Crystal Blue - Reflections of Mt. Dana & Mt. Gibbs

Crystal Blue - Reflections of Mt. Dana & Mt. Gibbs

Late at night Mt. Dana (Left) and Mt. Gibbs (Right) relfect the last bit of alpine light into a crystal blue High Sierra reflecting pond. One of the many small ponds that dot the High Sierra in the early spring months.

I had run into another photographer filming up at Lake Ellery. The clouds had blown out and we headed down to Tuolumne Meadows but the light was all worng. I told of this pond I had filmed many times and we headed back up Tigoa Pass to try it out. We stayed til late and a few clouds formed over the volcanic peaks of Mt. Dana and Mt. Gibbs which were perfectly reflected in the small lake.

This is a long exposure (25 sec) and you can even make out a copule of stars that had started to appear above the peaks. These would turn out to be some of the best shots of the day.
