Deep in the canyon, surrounded by insurmountable granite, the light fades fast. Cold air descends down the cliffs onto the Valley floor. You step into a clearing and look up seeing a flame of light streaking skyward and its intensity seems almost impossible given the surrounding light. Once each February, if you are very lucky, the water, the weather and the light all come together in perfect show of nature displayed magically on the granite walls of Yosemite.
