Dogwoods in Yosemite National Park

Dogwoods in Yosemite National Park

The beautiful Dogwood trees have started blooming in Yosemite National Park. Warm weather and scant rain have resulted in an early bloom in Yosemite Valley not far from Yosemite Village. The trees are still early in the blooming cycle but still a month or two early this year. These beautiful little trees grow under the canopy of the pine forest. Preferring the shaded areas these trees provide some of California's most stunning colors in the Fall and the most delicate white blossoms in the Spring which turn to bright red berries shortly after. The trees are native to Yosemite Valley and much of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range. They add a nice balance to the forest and are my personal favorite flower.
