We arrived at the gate expecting the Mariposa Grove to be closed due to winter and expected repairs to the area. To our surprise it was open to traffic and we continued up to the parking lot. Many of the trees had been damaged by a recent high wind storm and there were a number of branches on the ground up much of the trail. However many of the big trees were sheltered due to location by the wind and the areas around them remained stunningly beautiful.
