Soft Alpinglow illuminates high clouds as the sun sets over Yosemite's Valley View reflecting gently in the flowing Merced river with the colors simply perfect for Valentine's day weekend. While the rest of the country is buried in feet of snow, the California drought makes for an unusually nice evening along the river. Moments earlier El Capitan glowed bright red. Recent rain helped Bridal Veil Fall come back to life and caused the Merced river to rise. It might not be the winter sunset I would normally expect but it was one of the most beautiful sunsets you could ask for.
