I was packing up the gear to head for home and glancing south across the High Sierra toward our home in Bass Lake from high atop Glacier Point in Yosemite National Park. The light over Half Dome never really developed and moved south of the Dome. had been focused on the peaks towards the south, part of which can be seen on the left. I had given up on the sunset and was headed for the car when this view looking directly back towards my home caught my attention.

The colors were fading but still had that deep blue and pink that follows sunset. Over a wind broken trees, granite and forest I took this shot with the camera pointed somewhat towards Bass Lake and the Oakhurst area. Just right of center you can make out a peak rising along the horizon. Using Google Maps I was able to determine this what I believe is Gale Peak which rises just east of my home at Bass Lake. It seems like such a short drive from my home to Yosemite and Glacier Point. Seeing it visually gives me a whole new perspective.
