Dropping In - Willow Fire, California
A McDonnell Douglas MD-87 pops up over the ridge and noses the large jet down over treetops while fighting the Willow Fire near Bass Lake. It looked like the tankers were occupied then just at the last light bit of twilight they showed up. Early during the day the fire looked like it was waning but afternoon winds picked it back up and blew it over previous drop areas. Fires raged along the ridge that runs just South East of Bass Lake slightly North of North Fork. The marker for the very center of California lies just down the road a bit from where this was taken.
