As the forest burns the blood of the trees seems to pour into the sky turning the sun deep red. It wasn’t quite near sunset yet everywhere we looked seems as if we were wearing rose colored glasses. The sky was dark and foreboding and for a time the sun couldn’t be seen as anything more than a glow in the thick smoke. As the sunset grew closer the sun began to dip below the smoke and shine through. You could make out the distinct sharp edges of our star but the color was surreal and unlike a typical sunset. Red hues predominated the landscape everywhere you looked and made for a thoroughly other worldly view.
