Meadow Fire - Yosemite

Hiking in the dark, off trail to find that one image that framed Half Dome and the flames of the Meadow Fire made for some rough going. The bushes you see in front are like razors and I of course wearing shorts for the warm summer evening. Numerous scratches a number of ant bites but I think it was all worth it. The full moon provided some help if you were not under trees or clouds at the time. I went down quite a ways and had a heck of a time getting my tripod to be somewhat level as the terrain had become extremely steep. I had to stand there in awe for a while and just watch the flames race up a canyon erupting from one tree to the next leaving behind dotted flames that remained of the harder parts of the trees. It is devastating but in a few years the land will fill with grass and shrubs and there will be a large explosion of deer, bear and other creatures that cannot live in the dense pines. It will change the landscape for the next few centuries but eventually the pines will reclaim the forest.
