Milky Way on Bass Lake
Midnight Milky Way - Bass Lake
The dreamy magical shot of the full moon was in my mind and it was calling me to shoot another shot from this location so I headed back down. This time Lynn and Blue elected to stay in the car. It was a very different night without the moon. The forest was dark and seemed to eat the light from my flashlight. I finally made it down to the shore and turned off my light. All I could see were the lights across the lake. Finally my eyes began to adjust to the darkness. The frogs were singing and I could hear the waterfall across the lake. On the far end of the lake Jupiter and Saturn were rising. Just as I was getting the shot aligned in my viewfinder someone pulled up and walked into the Day Use area across from me and seemed to search the park. I waited patiently and after some time they left and I was alone on the lake. I put my headphones on and put on some music and began to work taking long exposures of the lake. The nights are sometimes more beautiful than the day.
