With so many fires in the area around Bass Lake the scenery has taken a surreal quality with hazy views made of orange hues. We had given up on catching the dramatic views of the fire and air tankers and taken up a position on the shoreline where we hoped we could catch a full moon rising on the lake. Right on time, there it was glowing orange on the ridge line above the lake. The reflection of cabins along the opposite shore twinkling as occasional waves rolled in from boats making their way back to their docks. I finally stopped shooting and sat down on one of the many newly made stumps and just enjoyed the view and watching the distant clouds slowly blow out till the sky was clear.
