Super Lunar Eclipsing - Bay Bridge, San Francisco

A "Super Moon" is just barely eclipsed by the tower of San Francisco's famous suspension section of the Bay Bridge. This unusually bright moon occurred on the early evening of May 5th 2012. It's rare and occurs only when the moon's elliptical orbit brings it closer to the Earth's surface. The sodium vapor lights that illuminate the surface of the Bay Bridge upper and lower decks made for a golden gleam across the blue waters of San Francisco Bay. It's a very rare site. Thus the term, "Once in a Blue Moon."
