Rainy Day Amongst the Redwoods

It was a rainy day amongst the redwoods in John Muir National Monument. A small, well hidden forest where moss covers most of the trees and lush green ferns grow throughout the forest. If you've ever spent time in a forest after a rain storm then you know the fresh clean smell and sent of the foliage. The dust that built up over summer has washed away and everything glistens with moisture. Everything seems fresh, new and young though many of the redwoods around you are thousands of years old. One of my favorite times to visit the forest is during or after a rainstorm has blown in off the Pacific.
