Sunset That Almost Wasn't

Looking down from the high above the Pacific the dense fog that totally blocked the sunset quickly gave way at the very last minute to reveal a brilliant sunset above Stinson Beach and Bolinas Bay. To the right, Bolinas Lagoon is illuminated by the light from the colorful glow of the clouds. We had just about given up on the sunset and headed towards home when we rounded turn and caught just a small crack in the fog. I thought it would close back up but I turned the car back to return to my original planned location and every second that passed seem to reveal more and more of the sunset. By the time I arrived the fog had nearly disappeared and the sunset had engulfed us in 360 degrees of dazzling color. In the end, we were treated to about 20 minutes of glorious changing color bouncing off the clouds from every side. The remarkable beauty of the outline of the coastline and lagoon in the town below just made it that more special.

Sometimes it just works out.
