A beautiful pair of blooms irrupt above the pine trees over Bass Lake on the 4th of July celebration. It started out as one of those perfect warm summer days where dipping in the lake is oh so refreshing. Jet skies, ski boats, party boats and even a fair number of kayakers traveled back and forth up the lake throughout the day enjoying the perfect summer day at the famous mountain retreat. As the sun set, the rangers cleared the lake of the ski boats and everyone made their way westward toward the last light of the setting sun. With a bang the show started and for a while the lake echoed with thunderous explosions. I was expecting a short show but it was a nice long, evenly lit show with a tremendous grand finale that lit up the lake like daylight.
