As the sun was setting on the far end of the lake the 4th of July fireworks show began. By the time it finished it was totally dark and when you are down in the forest dark is really dark. It was a beautiful night for a fireworks show but then many nights at Bass Lake are equally stunning. Bass Lake is located between Fresno and Yosemite National Park just past the small town of Oakhurst. Famous for camping, boating and fishing the lake draws a fair number of people each year for the annual fireworks show. The best bet is to arrive early for parking and spend the afternoon along the lake shore, take a swim or get something to eat at one of several restaurants that line the lake. When the show ends, sit along the lake and take in the star studded Milky Way filled sky.
