A spectacular fireworks display illuminates the sky above San Francisco just after midnight to ring in the 2012 New Year celebration. The show was short but stunningly beautiful with a rainbow of colors coming from both the fireworks and the city below. The Bay Bridge adds to the show with a string to lights running along its main suspension cables. The deck of the bridge illuminated by sodium vapor street lights and the occasional streak of automotive tail lights create a warm glow above the cool waters of the bay.

The night was surprisingly warm and perfect for a fireworks show. The fog which had plagued the skies for several nights before gave way for New Years Eve and stayed clear throughout the show. By the time I finished loading the images of my camera, the fog had started to move in to my home nearly 40 miles east of the city. You know, sometimes a plan just comes together. If the rest of 2012 goes this well, it's going to be a blast.
