Glorious International Orange - Golden Gate Bridge 75th Annivers

Fans of brilliant orange flames glorify the color chosen for Golden Gate Bridge and the color that has become synonymous with San Francisco. The orange flames lit the night and illuminated the hills surrounding the bridge much to the crowds delight. A large number of people tuned out to see the once in a generation celebration of perhaps the world's most famous span. It certainly notched its way further up the top of the most photographed manmade structures during the event held on the clear evening of May 27th 2012 in celebration of the bridge's completion. A feat deemed impossible by many at the time in 1937.

The bridge is not painted gold as some might think but rather a bright orange. The term Golden Gate beckons back an era almost a hundred years prior to the building of the bridge. The bridge is painted a unique shade known as International Orange and currently supplied by Sherwin Williams. If you want to add a bit of San Francisco to your decor you can request the shade "Fireweed" though this may be a tad brighter than the bridge due to weathering of the famous landmark. The color was selected because it blends naturally with the reddish orange rock of surrounding hills and was bright enough for ships to see more clearly in the dense fog that often enshrouds the bridge.
