At first glimpse it might not seem a good place to stop but as you start down the path from the parking area you descend in to a world of yellows and gold. The aspen trees have been hit by the first cold burst of air descending from the snow on the peaks above and began their transformation in to something stunning. The path follows the western shore or Silver Lake along the June Lake Loop in the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. As you walk, you get glimpses here and there of the lake and occasional picnic areas. When it happens just right the leaves turn to golden medallions and it becomes a stunning walk with thousands of photo opportunities.
