Along the steepest peaks of the Eastern Sierra mountains lies several lakes and a small road that passes around them called June Lake Loop. The road passes through a variety of scenery from the desert to Aspen Groves and finally through a Pine Forest before rejoining Highway 395. During Autumn the leaves of the Aspen groves go through a number of color changes that depend much on the cold temperatures. Here the trees are just beginning their change from their normal bright green to illuminated golden hues. The road winds back and forth through the light in a golden forest with occasional vistas of the many lakes and streams and even one large waterfall.
