Sierra Storm - Yosemite Valley

Sierra Storm - Yosemite Valley

As the day ended the storm clouds closed back in on Yosemite Valley and for a while it looked like no light would hit the Valley but finally the sun slipped below the clouds and a beam of light streaked across El Capitan to cast a bright orange glow. Within minutes it was gone but we stayed just to enjoy the view and that last bit of sunlight as it turned from pink to purple and finally the deep blue of night. This view of Yosemite is known as Tunnel View and once you stop there it is hard to pull yourself away. The view changes from moment to moment and it is often crowded with a large number of photographers right at sunrise and sunset.
