Half Dome and the clouds from earlier thunderstorms light up as the sun sets in Yosemite. The color of the dome changes from its normal granite gray to vibrant yellow orange as the sunlight is filtered though earths the atmosphere. A small group of photographers collected early at the bridge and by the time the color started to show up the bridge was packed as if often is. Though it was midsummer the Merced river was still flowing at near capacity from late spring rains. All the rain had made for some of the most lush foliage in the trees and meadows that I had seen since first going to Yosemite and should make for a spectacular fall season.
