The light was slipping from the sky and just when you would think it had gotten too dark for the tankers to fly, an MD-87 showed up on the scene with his lead plane and they took two more shots at dousing the flames that had grown as the winds had picked up. As luck would have it the large tanker came up right over the ridge where the flames were burning the hottest. It worked and the flamed died down giving the ground crews what they needed most... time to battle the flames during the night.
