Pastel Sunset on Bass Lake California

With October coming to an end a storm begins approaching the Sierra mountains creating one of the best pastel sunsets I have seen in a long time. The clean mountain air had a refreshing chill to it and a light breeze flowed over the lake which caused some slight disturbance in the ripples. We walked down from the forest onto the shoreline which now extends far into the lake. Out on what would normally be a sandbar we were able to shoot both north and south as the sun dipped below the horizon and began illuminating the underside of the clouds that were moving in. Reflected in the lake it made a perfect pastel colored picture of Bass Lake. We are looking forward to the first snow of the year in a few days but relishing these last days of Autumn in the Sierras.
