The sun sets over Half Dome on a warm late summer day. Smoke from nearby fires begins to linger into the valley and canyons below while at the same time causing the clouds to glow yellow orange and red. Thunderstorms over the distant desert near Mono Lake rise ever higher as the clouds over Yosemite slowly make their way eastward. A couple enjoy a romantic sunset perched atop the rocks below. Deer wandered all over the hillside grazing and unaffected by people. This wonderful view of the High Sierra Nevada Mountain Range is just above the parking lot for Glacier Point and is not subject to the crowds out on the Point that overlooks Yosemite Valley. It was a quiet time for my wife, our dog and I with occasional photographers stopping by to take a few shots.
