Kiss the Sky - Sunset on Mono Lake

The salt water of Mono Lake kisses the reflected sky with a glass like ripple effect while adding a greenish tint to the beauty of the sunset. The wind was light but the photographers many so I opted to hike through quicksand like mud to a unique location. Across the shore I counted several dozen photographers jockeying for position and looked around only to find my lovely wife and loyal dog sitting calmly behind me. I looked at her and said "Can you believe this?" It's perfection and we have it all to ourselves. Our decision to hike around the lake to a less common area through quicksand like mud that sucked your shoes off and smelled even worse had paid off with that once in a lifetime sunset that you will never forget. It took 12 images with the camera turned on its side to get it all but even the wake of the duck came out in clear detail. The unique angle makes this shot even better as all the other photographers were shooting the much higher contrast of the sun setting behind us. Sometimes you just get lucky. Sometimes you make your own luck if you are willing to put up with a lot of muck.
