Within a few short days, maybe a week or two, the rain dries up and there is a rush of Summer Gold as it spreads across the foothills that make up California Coastal Mountain Range. Since moving to the Bay Area one thing that always stood out was the deep rich greens of the California Oaks against the light tan two foot high grass that covers the hills from late to early spring. The grass is only greener here for a very short time. A few streaks of green can be seen in the pasture. In a few short days, even those will be gone and California will for the next nine months have its golden blanket laid across the foothills from the Coast to the Sierra.
