Diablo Sunset - Marsh Creek, California

Sunset as seen from the back side of Mount Diablo along Marsh Creek Road between Brentwood and Clayton California. Mount Diablo is the San Francisco’s tallest peak and can be seen from as far away as Mount Lassen over 180 miles away and possibly from Mount Shasta 240 miles away. It’s visible from nearly every angle in the Bay Area including San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge. At nearly 4000 feet tall, snow can often be found on the peak during the winter months, a rarity in the Bay Area. Living next to the mountain I know from personal experience that driving from Yosemite it can be seen looming in the distance for hours on the horizon. Mount Diablo actually consists of two pyramid shaped peaks with the one in the distance of this shot being the highest.
